In my English 12 class, with a focus on censorship and then dystopia, video plays a substantial role.  Within the affordances described by Woolfit, the most applicable are: building rapport, telling stories, visual juxtaposition and multimedia presentation.  Visual texts are as essential to the understanding to the understanding of dystopia.  Using a visual text such as Autodale as informational rather than decorative can alter the way students think about dystopia and reflect upon it.  With a visual text, there is often less room for interpretation which can be of benefit for some students.
