Hi Kate
I enjoyed the PDF version of your presentation (FYI I was unable to access the SWAY version of your presentation from your portfolio). I especially identified with your problem of student engagement waning, as this also is a challenge in my alternative education program. Additionally, as the only science teacher in my program I too have students that are being taught relatively independently if they need a specific science which we do not teach, e.g. for a university program they are applying for. I thought you brought up some good points about SWAY and your district providing more security, but Instagram being more portable after graduation. I look forward to you reading more about this as the course progresses.
Thanks Jim

Hi Kate-Nicola,
You brought up a good point about students being able to access their digital content after graduation that I had not considered before. Before obtaining my current position, I was a contract worker across three post secondary institutions spanning over a decade. When I competed for my current position, they asked for a portfolio, which was a challenge to provide as I did not have access to networks, email, etc. with previous employers, or even departments at my current institution. I have learned to take screen shots of what I have made through internal platforms to save for a potential future portfolio. With an emphasis on experiential learning in the post secondary context, and proof of skills and abilities in the job market, the ability for students to be able to save or access their artefacts from learning contexts will likely become a more salient issue. This issue is likely to become complicated over time with upgrades, changes in platforms, record keeping and data storage duration policies and practices, etc. as well.
